Hotel Villa Sophia
Nowadays, Villa Sofia belongs to the renown singer Sofiya Rotaru. While in the past, all the way back to end of 19th century, this building was the property of a merchant named Mr A. Roffe. It is known this building housed such important people as Ivan Bunin, Feodor Chaliapin, Anton Chekhov as well as several other members of «Writer and Scholar Society». 1984 was a tough year for this marvellous building, since it was scheduled for demolition due to its poor condition. Luckily, the huge uproar of musical community, first and foremost - Sofiya Rotaru herself, managed to keep the building proudly standing where it is Today. In not so recent 2012, hotel Villa Sofia got nominated and won the title of best mini-hotel in «Ukrainian Travel Awards – Open Ukraine» contest.
